One of the many things we celebrate about St. Brigit is her patronage of the arts. As abbess of the joint monastery in Kildare, Ireland she founded a school of art where metal work and manuscript illumination was taught. The Kildare scriptorium is the place where the beautiful, but lost Book of Kildare (akin to the Book of Kells) was created.

In acknowledgement of St. Brigit’s love for the arts, we are excited to have an art show as part of Celtic Fest 2017. Adults and children alike will create Celtic pieces of art that will be on display in the sanctuary of St. Brigit Episcopal Church.  Prizes will be awarded for "People's Choice" winners chosen by the attendees as well as the selections of the judges.  The rules and application form are below.   You may access a printable application form by pressing the button.  The application and fee of $5 per piece may be submitted on line or in person by September 25, 2017.  Payment may be by cash or check to 110 Johnson St., Frederick, CO 80530 or by credit card or Paypal below.

THEME: CELTIC-INSPIRED ART

All entries must have a Celtic theme, in whatever way that speaks to you.  Sources of inspiration might be Irish or Scottish landscapes, Celtic music, legends, or history.

Celtic Fest especially encourages you to research Celtic symbols for inspiration for your pieces.

Artists may enter up to three pieces, with a $5 entry fee for each piece.

Categories & Awards:

Ribbons will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in each of four categories, with gift certificate prizes for 1st Place winners.  Categories are:

·         People’s Choice Award Age 13 Years and Above

·         People’s Choice Award Age 12 Years and Under

·         Celtic Fest Committee Award Age 13 Years and Above

·         Celtic Fest Committee Award Age 12 Years and Under

People’s Choice voting will be from 11:00am - 4:00pm on Festival day.

1st Place winners will be invited to display their winning piece at St. Brigit’s for one month, and return it for display at the subsequent year’s Celtic Fest, if they (and/or their buyers) would like.

Sales of Art:

You may choose to have your art for sale, (although this is not required,) with 30% of the purchase price going to support Celtic Fest .  Celtic Fest will handle sales and artists will be paid within one week of festival day.  Buyers will be able to pick up their purchases from 7pm to 9pm on festival day, or at another time by arrangement.

Contact information for the artist should be on the back of the piece (or bottom if it's free-standing) only.  

Schedule:

·         Entry form and payment due, on-line or in person, by Monday, Sept 25, 2017

·         Deliver your art on:

o   Wednesday, Sept 27th, 2:00-5:00pm or

o   Thursday Sept 28th, 4:00-7:00pm.  No late deliveries accepted.

·         Delivery location is the Celtic Fest grounds; St. Brigit Episcopal Church, 110 Johnson St, Frederick, CO 80530.

·         Art pick-up will be at the end of Celtic Fest; 7pm to 9pm on Saturday Sept 30th, or at another time by arrangement.
